Youth Restitution
Little Dixie's Youth Restitution Program is operated statewide and
is designed for youth ages 14 -17 who have committed delinquent acts
that cause damage or destroy public or private property.
Little Dixie has operated this program since 1978.
The primary goals and objectives of the program
are to provide employment opportunities for the youth to assist in
their rehabilitation by holding him/her accountable for their
actions and at the same time compensate the victim for their losses.
All juveniles working in the program have been ordered
by a court to pay restitution. Of the money earned, a minimum
of 70% to a maximum of 85% is paid directly to the victim. The
youth receives the remainder and there is a $1500 maximum the youth
will be able to earn through the program.
Little Dixie works closely with state juvenile programs and the
court systems in finding acceptable worksites for the youth. Job
responsibilities do not interfere with school attendance.
Youth working on the program are covered by Workers Compensation
Insurance.
